Berlin
Over the past decade multi-disciplinary artist Louis Carnell’s work as Visionist delivered albums Safe (PAN 2015), Value (Big Dada, 2017), and A Call To Arms (Mute, 2021).
His work evolved from its early stages as an exploration of underground club culture, a reflection of Louis’ environment and an investigation of the post-internet world, to something more interrogative and personal in its manner. The decision to move forward from his alias in favour of his birth name declares an exciting new pathway that looks to reaffirm and communicate the environment in which he works today.Louis’ most recent work was transitional single “Fixed Is The Day We Cast Our Lot” (Mute Records, 2021) and a collaboration piece with composer cellist Okkyung Lee (Issue Project Room, 2021). A combination of Carnell’s music and a meticulous focus on visual art has meant that he has collaborated with an array of influential visual artists such as Daniel Sannwald, Peter De Potter Frederick Heyman and Arcin Sagdic. Through his work, Louis has been key in bringing their work to a musical audience, initiating the beginning of new forms. Louis also had a prosperous relationship with the fashion world with music included in presentations for Acne Studios, Kenzo, Heliot Emil, Per Götesson & ShowStudio to name a few.
